As part of the Urban Renewal Authority’s (URA) flagship revitalization initiative in Kowloon City, Carpenter Road Park Cycling Track—a cherished space rich in historical memories of the former Kowloon Walled City and deep neighborhood connection—has officially reopened with a vibrant, brand-new look!
As a core component of this urban renewal scheme, the Phase 1 Substrate Beautification and Performance Enhancement Project was proudly delivered by our Kwong Man Kee (KMK) expert team and successfully handed over recently. Combining cutting-edge flooring material science with meticulous execution, we have engineered a smooth, high-performance, and visually captivating sports facility for local residents and cycling enthusiasts alike. Seeing families and children freely riding along the colorful tracks since the park’s reopening fills our team with immense pride!
Behind the Scenes: How We Engineered a High-Durable Track
Faced with heavy daily foot and wheel traffic, coupled with Hong Kong’s demanding tropical climate—marked by scorching heat, torrential rains, and intense UV exposure—maintaining both the visual brilliance and functional safety of an outdoor venue requires an uncompromising technical foundation. Our engineering team deployed a comprehensive one-stop technical flooring solution, upgrading site performance from the structural substrate up to the artistic topcoat:

- Solid Foundation & Structural Remediation (Substrate Preparation & Priming): True aesthetic brilliance begins beneath the surface. Our team executed deep mechanical grinding and structural crack injection to thoroughly eliminate loose, deteriorated concrete layers. We then applied a high-penetration Epoxy/MMA (Methyl Methacrylate) primer to deep-seal concrete micro-pores, eradicating the root causes of future bubbling, peeling, and moisture vapor transmission.
- UV-Resistant & Weatherproof System (High-Performance Outdoor Coating System): To ensure the track’s colors remain vibrant over time, we selected an acrylic-rubberized colorful sport floor coating system, offering maximum resistance against UV radiation and weather erosion.
- Engineered Anti-Slip Micro-Texture (Functional Anti-Slip & Safety Craftsmanship): Safety is the absolute priority in cycling infrastructure. By incorporating high-hardness aggregate particles into the topcoat via our proprietary application method, we achieved a uniform micro-texture. This provides high wet anti-slip resistance during rainy weather without compromising the smooth rolling motion of bicycle tires, giving parents total peace of mind.
- Precision Masking & Crisp Aesthetics (High-Precision Application & Color Segmentation): To bring the designer’s playful, vibrant color scheme to life, our team utilized high-precision masking techniques. This guaranteed razor-sharp lines, seamless color separation, and rich color saturation—a key reason why this track has quickly become a viral photo spot across social media!
